"I am always trying to force the viewer to see one image instead of seeing all the loose parts."
Michiel Folkers, a.k.a Gieler, is a Dutch artist who has been experimenting with graffiti since the late nineties. Over time, his work has evolved into street art that is more abstract in nature. He tries to portray the order and placement of a whole image amongst the chaos of the different elements in his work, carefully restricting his use of colour. According to Michiel, the chaos must be friendly and quiet.
The Hook's Take: While a feast for the eyes, it's important to take a step back and focus on the visual as a whole when looking at Folker's work. These dynamic works will add a special accent to your space, inspiring the feeling of a walk through your favourite city.
